Distain wins her Group 3

German raider Distain (5m Champs Elysees-Market Forces, by Lomitas) continued an excellent weekend for Champs Elysees when securing a G3 success in Milan on Sunday.

Distain bore down on front-running Alambra in the closing stages of the 1m 2f G3 Premio Verziere and came out two and a half lengths clear of that opponent. Cristian Demuro was in the saddle and commented: “Alambra was clear in front, but I know Distain, she is a strong mare with plenty of stamina and I was pretty confident I’d win”.

The Juddmonte-bred, who provided big-race success for young German trainer Sarah Steinberg, had been bought for 68,000gns at the 2015 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale.

Her dam was bought by Badgers Bloodstock at the Tattersalls December sales '14 and coincidentally her sire was recently purchased by Coolmore Stud in a deal brokered by Badgers Bloodstock.
