Another classic contender for Camelot

The exciting three-year-olds just keep on coming for Camelot and on Sunday it was the turn of Alounak (3c Camelot-Awe Struck, by Rail Link) to advertise his Classic credentials.

Trained by Jean-Pierre Carvalho for Darius Racing, the French-bred travelled ominously well turning for home in the Listed Grafenberger Derby Trial at Dusseldorf, and powered home to a superb six-length success.

Also a Listed winner last season, the Camelot colt is now 7/2 favourite for the G2 Italian Derby with bookmaker Racebets and 9/1 market leader for the G1 German Derby. His dam Awe Struck was a 35,000 gns purchase by Badgers Bloodstock at the Tattersalls December Sales.
